Nano Digital Printing Nano Digital Printing Takes First Step To Miracle
- May 31, 2018 -

In drupa 2016, Lanta Digital Printing Co., Ltd. displayed three nano-image digital presses. In addition, Benny Landa personally participated in the extremely cool theater show and received numerous attention in the printing circle. A large domestic printing company told the reporter on the spot: The Lanta Nano Image Digital Press is an important stop for their drupa trip. If the nano image digital press of Lanta can be said to be the same as the advertisement, the speed and output quality are comparable to offset printing. At the same time, it also has the advantage of variable digital printing, then this printing technology will certainly change the pattern of the world's printing market.

In May of this year, Digital Printing magazine interviewed Michael Mogridge, general manager of Asia Pacific and Sales Director of Landa Digital Printing Co., Ltd. and Deng Song, Sales General Manager of Greater China, sharing the latest developments of Lanta Nano Image Digital Press.

Nano-ink and transfer process are two core technologies for nano-image digital printers

At drupa 2016, Lanta introduced the Lanta S10 Nanographic Printing® sheet-fed single-sided digital press for the folded carton packaging market, the Lanta S10P sheet-fed double-sided digital printing for commercial printing and publishing printing. Machines, and the Lanta W10 web single-sided digital press for the flexible packaging market. The magic of these devices is the speed, quality, and breadth of offset printing, and no pretreatment is required for any substrates. The first core technology to achieve these results is nano inks. The pigment diameter of nano inks is only a few tens of nanometers. The reflection of light is stronger than traditional pigments. It can achieve better image quality when the total number of pigments is reduced. On the one hand, the cost is reduced, and on the other hand, the color gamut of the image is also enlarged. The 4-color printing can cover 80% of the Pantone color gamut. Michael Mogridge said: “These are the advantages of nano inks that we are familiar with. It has other advantages. For example, because nano pigments have very small particles, they require less ink carriers. We use 100% water as a carrier, which is easy to use. Drying, the ink has a wider adaptability, and can reduce the VOCs emissions. We dare to say that the VOCs emissions of the Lanta Nano Image Digital Press are the lowest in the industry.”

The second core technology is the transfer process of nano-image printing. Direct ink jet technology causes the ink droplets to penetrate and expand on the substrate. In Lanta's printing process, ink is sprayed onto a specially designed blanket transfer belt. Afterwards, the moisture in the ink is volatilized and formed. Ultra-thin, flat polymeric film, strong adhesion enables it to transfer to any material, including a variety of coated and uncoated paper, plastic packaging film, metal foil, etc., greatly expanding the scope of application.

In addition to its core technology unique to Landa, Landa Nano Image Digital Press also gathers the expertise of the public, and the prepress process cooperates with EFI and has Fiery's powerful digital front end. The rack combines the advantages of Komori's traditional presses, making the equipment more stable in high operation. In collaboration with AVT, point-to-point image detection is used to control print quality.

From a field and geographical perspective, packaging and China are important markets for Lanta

In the global printing market segment, the packaging and printing market showed a strong growth trend. Michael Mogridge said: "There is no doubt that the markets in the United States and Europe have matured and stabilized. China is a country with rapid economic growth. We often say that the Lanta Nano Image Digital Press is a productivity behemoth, more specifically, it is suitable There are at least 3 traditional offset printing plants. Landa Nano Image Digital Press is more suitable for areas with rapid economic growth. China is one of our largest single-target markets."

Referring to China's first installation user, Michael Mogridge first proposed the global installation plan for 2017. “The second round of installation in July in Israel, November in the US, December in Germany, and in 2018, of which there must be one installed in China. "In order to ensure that the Landa Nano Image Digital Press can be installed and operate normally, and deal with unpredictable problems in a timely manner, each group of nano-image digital printers currently delivered has 9 groups of cameras that can be connected online in 7 x 24 hours. Real-time transmission to Israeli headquarters, coupled with video-audio technology, is like having a professional engineer come to the scene. Mr. Deng Song, General Manager of Landa Greater China Sales, said: “This time, China is not on the global starting list. Language is one of the major issues. In order to ensure that equipment can function properly in Chinese customers, we will adopt several levels. In addition to monitoring, we also plan to set up a service center within two hours' drive from the first customer to prepare for the sudden emergence of production conditions.” This also shows that Lanta has paid attention to the Chinese market.
